Welcome to Düsseldorf's Christmas Market

Düsseldorf during Advent – a very special experience indeed: the highly traditional Christmas Market will be individually staged at six separate locations in the busy Old Town from 19 November to 23 December. Artistically designed themed worlds based around the Königsallee will be taking guests on a genuine trip of discovery. More than 250 seasonally decorated huts will be turning the city into a five-week winter's fairy tale that the whole family will enjoy.

The free 450 m² ice rink on Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz will be celebrating its premiere this year. Seasonal skating fun against the backdrop of the architecturally attractive theatre building guaranteed! Düsseldorf's Town Hall will also be constituting a magical setting for the Christmas Market on Marktplatz. A market quarter where craftsmen and -women working in wrought iron, glassblowers and candle-makers will be offering their handmade wares will stretch across the area at the base of Düsseldorf's landmark, the statute of the mounted Jan Wellem. The art-nouveau style "Engelchen-Markt" will be enchanting visitors to Heinrich-Heine-Platz in the Old Town. The Bürgermarkt on Flinger Strasse will link Marktplatz and Heinrich-Heine-Platz. Here, the facades of the huts will be modelled on Düsseldorf's old town houses. The traditional mulled-wine pyramid will again constitute a striking and popular meeting place this year. At the Sternchenmarkt located at the Stadtbrückchen, giant crystals and sparkling stars will immerse the stands painted in sky-blue in an impressive winter landscape. Visitors to Schadowplatz will find it quite busy. This is where Düsseldorf's Christmas Market will be particularly family-friendly. Colourful merry-go-rounds and a giant puppet theatre in a heated tent won't just attract young visitors.

Tip: a stroll along the world-famous Königsallee will be particularly enjoyable. The giant chestnut trees along the boulevard will radiate a seasonal brilliance thanks to thousands of lights.
